A Leadership Team Built at Refineries, Terminals and Jetties

Ahmad Faris founded Asian Oil Storage in 2017 and leads group strategy, investor relations and major partnerships. He began his career in 1994 as a process engineer at a refinery in Peninsular Malaysia. He then spent more than a decade in downstream planning and terminal development roles. There he led the development of several product distribution terminals in Malaysia, among them a coastal import terminal and two inland depots.

Before founding Asian Oil Storage, he was Head of Terminal Development at a regional downstream energy group, responsible for its storage investment programme across Malaysia and Indonesia. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and an MBA from a UK business school.

Daniel is responsible for day-to-day leadership of the business, including commercial performance, operations and the integration of the four-terminal network. He joined in 2020 to lead the Four Corridors strategy and oversaw the acquisitions in Singapore, Rotterdam, Fujairah and Houston.

Daniel spent 14 years with an independent tank storage operator in Singapore, rising from terminal commercial manager to regional general manager for Southeast Asia. He then spent six years in infrastructure investment, evaluating midstream assets for an Asia-focused infrastructure fund. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from the National University of Singapore and is a CFA charterholder.

Priya leads operations, maintenance and asset integrity across all four terminals, and oversees the Network Performance Centre in Kuala Lumpur. She joined Asian Oil Storage in 2021 with the Singapore acquisition, where she was operations director of the terminal.

Her career includes marine terminal operations in Singapore, a four-year posting as operations manager at a large storage terminal in the Middle East, and reliability engineering roles in refining. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) from Nanyang Technological University and a Master’s in Maintenance and Asset Management.

Siew Ling leads finance, treasury, tax, investor reporting and risk management. She joined in 2019 and structured the institutional investment that funded the Four Corridors strategy, along with the project financing for the Singapore expansion.

Before joining Asian Oil Storage, she spent 12 years in infrastructure and project finance with a regional bank, covering power, ports and energy infrastructure. Earlier, she worked in audit with an international accounting firm. She is a Chartered Accountant (Malaysia) and a Fellow of the ACCA.

Hendrik sets group engineering standards and technical assurance, and oversees the technology roadmap, including the terminal management system and the digital twin programme. He joined in 2022 with the Rotterdam acquisition, where he had been technical manager for eight years.

A mechanical engineer by training, Hendrik has specialised in storage tank design, inspection and repair throughout his career. He worked for a European tank construction contractor and a Dutch inspection and engineering consultancy before moving into terminal operations. He holds MSc and PhD degrees in mechanical engineering from Delft University of Technology, with doctoral research on tank-bottom corrosion.

Omar leads commercial strategy, customer relationships and contracting across the network, with a particular focus on cross-hub storage solutions. He joined in 2023 with the Fujairah acquisition and moved to Singapore in 2024.

Omar spent eight years in bunker supply and fuel oil trading in Dubai. He then spent nine years in commercial roles at storage terminals in Fujairah, most recently as commercial manager. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the American University of Beirut.

Azlan is responsible for operating procedures, marine operations, scheduling and operational training across the four terminals. He joined in 2021 as terminal manager in Singapore and took up his group role in 2024.

He started as a marine loading operator at a Malaysian coastal terminal. He then moved through shift supervisor, marine superintendent and operations manager roles in Malaysia and Singapore. He holds a Diploma in Marine Engineering and a Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management.

Boon Hock leads the engineering team in Kuala Lumpur, which delivers the company’s development projects and consulting engagements, including the Borneo Oil Storage Terminal. He was the company’s first engineering hire, in 2018.

He spent 17 years with international engineering contractors, working on the design and delivery of storage terminals, jetties and pipelines in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Australia. He is a registered Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia and holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from Universiti Malaya.

Kavitha leads health, safety, security and environment across the group. That covers process safety management, emergency preparedness, contractor safety and environmental compliance. She joined in 2020, before the first terminal acquisition, to build the group HSSE management system.

Her career began in process safety at a petrochemical complex in Malaysia. She later held regional HSSE roles at an international terminal operator, covering sites in Southeast Asia and the Middle East. She holds a Master’s in Process Safety and Loss Prevention and the NEBOSH International Diploma.
